Warren and Gordon met in December 1997 in Bangor, ME. Gordon was out to celebrate his birthday with a schoolmate and Warren was having an evening out with friends. Warren met Gordon's friend and they began a conversation that would last through the night. That evening Gordon and Warren talked only briefly but were left with a good impression of each other. The next weekend both Warren and Gordon were out at a different spot with the same friends. This time they spent more time talking and laughing together. At the end of the evening Warren got a drive home by Gordon and his gal pal and before the two men parted they exchanged phone numbers. The next day Gordon was running to meet friends for Sunday brunch and Warren was catching up on his weekend newspaper. Warren decided to give Gordon a call but Gordon was already late for brunch and when he heard the phone ring he was already out the door. Gordon made a mental note to check his messages when he returned (how did we live without cell phones?). Warren was his chipper and friendly self in the message. Gordon returned from brunch and called Warren back. The pair talked for about a half an hour before making a date that Monday night for dinner. Warren drove to Gordon's place in nearby Orono, ME and then took him to the Sea Dog Brewing Company where they had some nifty micro brewed beer and some tasty bistro cuisine at a cool restaurant overlooking the Penobscot River. They spent every night that week hanging out and getting to know each other before Gordon flew home to Canada for the holidays and Warren flew to Florida to spend Christmas and New Years with friends. When they returned to Maine in 1998 they made a promise to be inseparable. The rest, as they say, is history.
Nothing brings us more happiness than to be able to be joined in love in the state that we both love. We were excited to see the results of the election on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 and to know that the voters of Maine agreed with what we knew all along ... that love is love. We hope that all of our guests will fall in love with Maine as much as we have.
Our wedding and reception will be held at the historical Portland Regency near the waterfront in the Old Port. There will be drinks, dancing, dining and fun for all. We can't wait to share a special evening with all of our friends and family.
